If Your Sponsor is the Scottish Government
You will normally be placed in the Hampton Hotel near the airport for the first day or several if you arrive under the Supersponsor Scheme. If it is full, you may be placed in an alternative hotel nearby or elsewhere in Edinburgh. Transport will be provided.
You do not need to do anything to secure housing. The local council will place you in more permanent accommodation shortly (there’s no exact timing, but in our experience the process is a matter of days rather than weeks).
Big families with children are usually housed in Lochend Apartments. Each family is given a flat. We can signpost you to the volunteer group that works with Lochend residents if you need more specific information. Leave a query at t.me/hushelp.
Individual adults without special medical needs and adult couples are usually housed at 30 Minto Street, in a hostel.
The council delivers food to these locations. If you are not receiving food, you need to contact the council’s helpline at +44 131 200 2306 (or using our language helpline at +44 131 2100 173). If you need more than what the council can give you, you can also contact us using our form and we will signpost you to other organisations that can provide you with groceries. Specifically, Edinburgh Community Food currently delivers food to both Minto Street and Lochend. You may contact them directly if you speak English and have specific requests.
In Edinburgh, the plan is to eventually house displaced Ukrainians with individual local hosts. It is not known how this process will work and when exactly it will take place.
You are guaranteed free accommodation for 6 months.
There are currently no special provisions in place for what will happen after these 6 months are over.
